Newsletter for Western Agricultural Educators & Stakeholders
Published by the Western Extension Risk Management Education Center
Summer 2018
This newsletter is designed with Extension Risk Management Education (ERME) applicants and grant recipients in mind – serving as a resource for all ag risk educators; as well as other risk management stakeholders. The Western Center Director – Shannon Neibergs, discusses the critical need for risk management education for western region producers; with the lead article taking an in depth look at Ripple Effects Mapping – an evaluation tool that can successfully measure the achievement of farmer and rancher risk management goals. Our project success story from the University of Guam, features several special emphasis groups including resource-challenged, beginning and small farmers, and U.S. Veterans. This issue also includes a link to a 2016 ERME funded project curriculum: Commodity Marketing: Using Futures and Options as a Risk Management Tool (pdf). This project was delivered by the Idaho Barley Commission in partnership with the University of Idaho.
