New pilot initiative will provide one-on-one assistance to producers navigating farm loan programs in identified priority areas in the Western and Southern United States
Nov. 2, 2026
The Western Extension Risk Management Education Center and the Southern Extension Risk Management Education Center, in collaboration with the ERME Digital Center, has announced the launch of the Technical Assistance Provider Network (TAPN), a new pilot project designed to help farmers and ranchers successfully access funding through USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Farm Loan Programs and other farm lenders in pilot priority areas.
The program will provide localized technical assistance and personalized guidance to producers seeking financial resources needed to start, sustain, and grow their agricultural operations.
Access to financing remains one of the most important factors influencing the success and resilience of farm and ranch businesses. Through TAPN, we are bringing together trusted local partners who can help producers navigate the loan application process and strengthen their financial management skills.
Through the network, producers can receive one-on-one support with:
- Understanding USDA Farm Service Agency loan requirements
- Improving recordkeeping systems
- Developing financial statements
- Preparing farm loan applications
- Support in submitting loan applications
The network includes universities, nonprofit organizations, tribal-serving institutions, and agricultural service providers in Western and Southern pilot priority areas, to support farmers and ranchers seeking assistance with farm financing management. The project is supported and funded through the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, (NIFA).
The TAPN pilot reflects the Extension Risk Management Education program’s commitment to helping agricultural producers identify, evaluate, and manage the financial, production, legal, and human risks that affect profitability and long-term sustainability.
Farmers and ranchers interested in receiving assistance are encouraged to contact a TAPN advisor serving their region. Advisors are available to provide confidential, individualized support and guidance tailored to each operation’s needs.
